KVPY EXAMS - किशोर वैज्ञानिक प्रोत्साहन योजना

 The KISHORE VAIGYANIK PROTSAHAN YOJANA (KVPY) is National Fellowship Program in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and implemented by the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.

The Aim of this program is to encourage and motivate students for research in basic sciences. Selection of students is made from CLASS XI / XII / FIRST YEAR OF GRADUATION through an APTITUDE TEST and INTERVIEW.

 A certain number of fellowships, exclusively for the meritorious SC/ST students and for deserving Persons With Disabilities (Physically and Visually challenged students) is also given under various streams.

Advertisement for KVPY aptitude test is released every year in month of MAY OR JULY.

Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria for various streams, will be called for Computer based aptitude test conducted online, both in Hindi and English at different centers across the country.

COURSES OFFERED AFTER SELECTION FOR KVPY:

B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Ecology, Molecular Biology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Biotechnology, Neurosciences, Bioinformatics, Marine Biology, Geology, Human Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Materials Science or Environmental Science.

ELIGIBILITY/CRITERIA FOR APPEARING APTITUDE TEST:

Students can apply through three various streams SA / SX / SB, Eligibility and Criteria for the test is given below;

1	Stream SA	CLASS XI WITH PCMB	The fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an under graduate course in Basic Science (B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. ) after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE Subjects in the XII Standard. Candidate should have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/ Biology) in the X Standard Board Examination immediately in preceding academic year
2	Stream SX	CLASS XII WITH PCB OR PCM	The fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join for an under graduate course in Basic Science (B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. ) after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE Subjects in the XII Standard. Candidate should have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects (Physics/Chemistry/ Biology) in the X Standard Board Examination
3	Stream SB	1st year B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S	The fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join or have joined for an under graduate course in Basic Science (B. Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S. ) after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in Science Subjects in 1styear of B.Sc./B.S./B. Stat./B. Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED: 

1. Caste certificate for students belonging to SC/ST. 

2. Medical certificate for physically and visually challenged students certifying the percentage of disability.

3. Scanned photo & signature

SYLLABUS FOR KVPY EXAM:

There is no prescribed syllabus for the test. The test aims to check the understanding and analytical ability of the student. However, students are tested for the syllabus up to class X/XII/1st year of  B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. as applicable.

Each KVPY Fellow will be issued an Identity Card so as to have access to National Laboratories/ National Universities.

EXAM PATTERN:

For the Stream-SA  all questions are compulsory (PCMB)

For the streams SB and SX , there will be FOUR SECTIONS in Part I (PCMB) and FOUR SECTIONS in Part II (PCMB).  Candidates  may answer any THREE of the FOUR SUBJECTS in PART I and any TWO of the four subjects in PART II. In case candidate attempts  more sections, BEST OF THREE in PART I and BEST OF TWO in PART II is considered.

Students can apply Online at http://www.kvpy.iisc.ernet.in/ by clearly indicating the stream (i.e., SA/SX/SB). 

APPLICATION FEE: 

For General category Rs. 1,250/- (Rupees one thousand two hundred and fifty only) and Rs. 625/- (Rupees six hundred twenty five only) for Students belonging to SC/ST/Persons With Disabilities.
